So Let it Be Written, So Let it Be Done...

The written word holds absolute power over the souls of men. With careful crafting, words can instigate rebellion, halt the weapons of war, inspire kindness among strangers, strike fear into enemies, melt the heart of a lover, release tears of sadness, or spark uncontrollable laughter. I have always admired the titans of literature and how they harness language to totally, utterly ensnare readers into the worlds created within their works.

For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in telling stories. I confess my oratory skills lack a certain charisma; I blame it on the fact that my mouth can not keep up with the thoughts in my brain, making my words stumble out like a drunk into the streets after last call. Writing, on the other hand, is a different story.

I have written stories for as long as I can recall. I remember sitting in front of an old V-Tech computer, back when the company actually made "real" computers, and typing out a tale on a Windows 3.1 version of Microsoft Works. I have always enjoyed the writing process but for many years I failed to ever finish anything I had ever written. At least until this summer.

As if by struck by a literary epiphany, I started writing. I kept writing...for three straight weeks the words continued to flow through my fingertips and onto the soft glowing screen in front of me. Finally, I had written a book. Over 50,000 words of pure story, by far the largest document I had ever created. I called this story 2020.

I am pleased to announce that very story will soon be available in paperback and e-book form, beginning in the spring of 2013. I have never been published before, so in the coming weeks and months, I will share more of my journey toward becoming a "real" author. There is much more to tell, but for now, I would like thank Spore Press for giving me the opportunity to present my story and I hope you enjoy what I have written.

More to come soon!

Josh
